limbo and a concert

5 more days of school! and honestly i can't wait for the year to be over. in a matter of two weeks i've gone from loving my job and having an amazing first year teaching to dreading coming in to work and counting down until i can leave. and i hate that feeling. and it has nothing to do with my students or what i am teaching, honestly they make me laugh and have been the biggest part i think in why i've had such a successful first year. i am still waiting to find out if i have a job next year and i probably won't know for a few more weeks. so i'm still in limbo. a limbo i have been in since march. and while up until about 2 weeks ago it looked good as if i'd still have a job next year, but there has been talks of more cuts and more budget issues since june started. and it is completely frustrating. the morale of the teachers is so low right now, i've cried pretty much everyday on the way home from work last week, and we had a 1.5 hour staff meeting on friday afternoon. i am so stressed about this and i just want to know either way. if my position is cut, well i'll be upset but i'm looking at it as a blessing in disguise, because there are other things i would like to do besides teach but i'm dreading looking for a job. it is pretty much too late to be applying for a teaching job. so i've kinda started looking at other ideas. but what i'm interested in isn't really hiring - museum education or i need a more education - in archives/library science or higher education and i'm looking into some of the federal type job and toying with the idea of going abroad again. so i'm kinda holding off looking for another job for a few more weeks until mid july because hopefully i'll know then. and i can have more of a plan. but i know i don't want to be in jersey anymore if i don't have my job.

but in good news, there are 5 more days of school and i've survived my first year teaching! i had my first final on friday and they did well on it, so i have finals until thursday and then friday is the last day of school with graduation on saturday. then saturday afternoon i'm on my way to connecticut for the summer! yay! i can't wait!

and last week was a great week outside of the work drama. i went out with erin on tuesday and finally saw satc2 which i was ehhhhh, about. parts of it were cute and i laughed, but again with the whole cheating/infidelity aspect, and seriously what were they thinking with the whole middle east thing, i saw it as mocking their culture and how ignorant american travelers are. and with the fashion, completely over the top. and it just wasn't them. and then on wednesday i went out with a hs friend of mine also living in the area teaching and saw killers. it was the katherine heigel & ashton kutcher and while it wasn't amazing. it was funny and it was a good way to not think about all the school drama.

and then thursday was AMAZING! my parents, sister and i went to the new meadowlands stadium to see the DIXIE CHICKS, KEITH URBAN and THE EAGLES!!!!!
the concert was pretty fabulous! keith & the dixie chicks each played for an hour and the eagles for 2 hours. and the new stadium is pretty cool, my dad and i went on an adventure before keith started to walk all around it. and of course it started to POUR as keith started, but about 3 songs in it stopped raining, and his show was awesome. at one point when singing - you look good in my shirt (one of my favs) he jumps off the stage and goes around the ground level seats directly opposite ours. we had 14th row seats on the bottom tier and when it looked as if he was going to come over to our side my sister and i ran down to the wall and he was 10 FEET AWAY from us!! so that was incredible! the dixie chicks were pretty awesome too. when they did - not ready to make nice - wow! and my fav wide open spaces :) and then the eagles. honestly there are no words for the awesomeness of the eagles. i grew up listening to the eagles with my parents. and my dad was super excited when i told him i was getting tickets because he has been waiting years to see them. and honestly for a group that was created in 1971 and most of the guys are ancient, you couldn't tell. they were incredible. hearing hotel california, take it easy & desperado live was incredible. the only thing i wish they had done new york minute & tequila sunrise, but they have sooo many amazing songs!

the eagles - hotel california
the dixie chicks!
keith urban when he was directly across from us.. yummmm!
ticket and the view from our seats
sister and i during keith urban
new meadowlands from the top
old meadowlands stadium

and in random things:
- i got bangs two weeks ago and i'm really liking the difference
-anyone else like talk radio? i have satellite radio and while i'm slightly more liberal i love listening to fox radio. for some reason listening to crazy conservatives makes me laugh and i love to hear their crazy ideas and thoughts and then make fun of them.
-has anyone else listened to cosmo radio? it is xm162 and absolutely hilarious! i found it on accident and it is one of my new favorite xm stations, it is talk and they hosts are hilarious and i really enjoy listening to them talk about celeb gossip, fashion, tv/music/radio, sex and life.
-i have 4 books i need to read before saturday when books need to be returned to the library. ready, set, READ!
-i need to pack for connecticut.

how was your weekend? what has your favorite concert been?

Oh, I love concerts!!! My dad is the reason I love music so much (we still share the same taste to this day), and there’s nothing better than seeing a beloved artist performing live. My first “WOW” concert moment was when I was in England 3 years ago and saw Muse at Wembley Stadium. Surrounded by 70,000 other people clapping to the same beats, awestruck by aerial trapeze artists released in balloons over the audience, one of the most impressive lightshows I’ve ever seen. Pianos rising from the ground and perfect falsetto making my heart beat faster. Amazing moment. Though that was the biggest, my absolute favourite had to be possibly the most intimate concert I’ve ever been to. D & I travelled to Toronto in February to see a relatively unknown at the time English band (Mumford and Sons). They hadn’t even released an album this side of the pond yet, but we got there to find they’d sold out. They’re one of my favourite bands ever, and to see their raw passion, amazing talent, and totally humble surprise and appreciation of all the people who’d actually shown up and sold them out was one of the best experiences of my life :)

Can we see pics of your new hair?

I was ehhh about SATC 2 as well! I think it's because I liked the first one so much.

I hope you find out about your job soon- that's such a difficult position that they've put all of you in.

Bangs?! We need photos!

Good luck with the job - I hope things work out for you. I can't imagine the stress, but hopefully the last few days will be somewhat enjoyable.

Glad you had fun at the concerts! My favourite, well, there really isn't any contest - any of the times that I've seen U2 have been absolutely phenomenal. Other favourites were The Swell Season and Green Day

Summer's a great time for concert going, especially outdoor evening ones, and I'm glad you had such a good time! Hopefully your work situation gets straightened out and things get a little easier.

How'd the new Meadowlands look? Will it be a good home for the Jets/Giants?

That must be so annoying about your job. I would be going crazy too. Just the not knowing part! Either way I'm sure things will work out for you though!!

It's kinda embaressing but the best concert I've been too was Journey. My friend and I had lawn seats but this person won VIP seating but had 4 people in his group and there were only 2 tickets. So he gave them to us!! They were the best seats and Journey really knows how to put on a show!!

OMG I'm so excited to hear you went to the concert because I'm going this weekend in Chicago! What time did the concert let out? How long was the wait between the opening acts? I'm excited!
