life has slowed down

weekends go by so fast - especially when you don't have any specific plans and you pretty much waste the gloriousness of the weekend. but again i've been bad and pretty much ignored you the past two weeks. i sat down last sunday to write a post, but after writing about 3 sentences i realized i didn't have much to say and i got distracted.

i feel like i'm boring right now because i don't have much going on. january to april were pretty crazy months - i was always off on some adventure or traveling and wasn't just sitting around and i was doing fun things. and since i've moved to dc my life has been pretty vanilla. i haven't left virginia (or dc) in a month. which for me is pretty crazy to be that static and not have some fun weekend trip planned. i'm trying to get better about planning and doing things with friends especially on the weekends, but it seems that a lot of my friends have had weekend plans so just trying to keep myself busy on the weekends.

this weekend was fun though. friday night i didn't do anything - the yucky rainy day made me want to do nothing - so i caught up with my week of tv - big bang theory, grey's, better with you and mad love. and saturday i went embassy hopping. 35 embassies were open for visitors and it was fun to see how different they all are. i'd been to the australian one back in 2002 when i was in hs, and the american embassy in ireland in 2005. but embassy row in dc is just gorgeous - the architecture and these houses are so pretty. so it is a cultural thing and they have information, food, dancing, artifacts and such and it was a fun way to spend a saturday. i went to argentina, botswana, croatia, korea, and venezuela. i had yummy empanadas and red wine in argentina and a yummy pastry in venezuela, watched dancing in botswana and picked up all sorts of travel brochures for each place. and going to argentina & venezuela has only increased my desire to to want to go to south america. so that was a fun thing to do in dc and i'm glad i went and enjoyed my afternoon.

saturday night i went to see bridesmaids with two friends- and i don't know the last time i laughed that much. i loved it - i recommend it - and it isn't a chick flick at all, it is a comedy. it was pretty much a female version of the hangover - but had a great underlying tone of friendship and changing relationships. though a few times i wanted to slap kristen wiig's character and tell her to get some confidence. but go see it!

and other than that last weekend i saw something borrowed, on cinco de mayo had went to a lovely fiesta at my friend ellie's house, and have enjoyed some fun dinners with friends and just hanging out. and i'm debating going to a sugarland concert on sunday. they are playing in columbia, md and well i really want to see them and i can't find anyone who is interested in going. so as long as the weather is good i'm really thinking of going by myself as it is lawn seats. i've never done that for a concert, but why skip it because i can't find anyone to go with, right? i just wish i hadn't left my cowboy hats in new jersey.

so i've realized i need to do a dc/northern virginia to-do list of all the fun things i need to do this summer so any suggestions of things to do? i'm trying to plan a harpers ferry trip in the next few weeks and also check out some other civil war battlefields i've missed, as well as the newseum, but what other things should i do, (i've been to all the smithsonians, capital hill, monuments...) or restaurants or must see things.

hope everyone had a good weekend!

That sounds like a lot of fun seeing all the different embasseys. When I studied abroad my apartment was right next to the Netherlands embassey. It was such a pretty building! I always wanted to see what it looked like inside.

I loved Bridesmaids. But the one part at the dress store, made me sick!! lol
