more dc

so i was just in dc for the last week for work and i just love it. there is something about the district and nova that i can't quite put words on, but i love it. i know a large part of my love is the people and the memories from all my times living and working there and this week didn't disappoint.

co-workers play doh model of dc

i flew into dca on saturday, which first of all was so weird to fly to dc. especially coming from nj where i always drive. i went out of allentown airport and had a layover in philly. i kid you neither flight was longer than 20 minutes in the air - so that was kinda funny. patricia met me at the airport and we had a lovely catch up dinner and she drove me to the hotel where training was and after checking in i had fun chatting with my friends for a long time on sunday night. catching up since last april, august or november depending on when i last saw them!

just drew this from memory during training
mlk memorial

training all week was ok - fun to be with some amazing people who i've worked with before and others who i've heard about from friends and also met some brand new people to the program. and it was nice to be trained in the 6/7 curriculum so now i can do either 6/7 or 8/9 conferences, which is cool. but the best part of the week was getting to see everyone, especially at night. the hotel we stay at is almost across the street from the office and i spent summer 2009 at that hotel when i worked my first conference and had possibly the craziest summer of my life and met some amazing people. and a perk of this hotel is the happy hour so we had some fun after work at happy hour. i also went out to an amazing dinner with mj, ellie & lara on tuesday night to marvin - a great restaurant on u street in dc. i had sweet potato agnolitti which was to die for! and then thursday night i went to dinner with my pc partner this summer paul. we had a great time making fun of each other and discussing life, and then i went to the bar with my coworkers and also got to see one of my staffers from this summer who lives in dc! and my favorite was friday night. i was staying with patricia and after dinner we just decided to be lazy and were reminiscing about summer of 2009 by looking at photos when mj calls and suggests going to our favorite silver diner for a midnight snack. and well we had a great night. and it just reminded me of how much i value my friendship with patricia & mj. and then saturday we were going to do brunch but decided to push it back to lunch and went to my favorite place for burgers in the city - good stuff by capital hill. absolutely delish. again reminds me of conferences and eating there on capital hill days. and since we had a little bit of time before i needed to be at the airport we drove around all the monuments and i even hopped out and did a quick run through of mlk. so it was great time seeing friends and being back in a city i love and got me excited for the next few months of traveling.

so i'm back in new jersey for a bit figuring out insurance, getting the smaller knee brace and just living life.

Sounds like fun! And that's a seriously short flight!

LOL!! Your doodling is so cerebral! Mine is more like interlocking hearts and smiley faces ;) I've never seen the MLK memorial, it's really powerful.
