beamish

so my computer is having issues again. we've been issue free for a while but recently the power cord has been acting up, and it finally died on thursday. luckily i'm still under warranty for another month - yay! and the power cord is being shipped to me, so until then i'm stealing roomies computer.

so wednesday night got me thinking. i met up with my friend catie for dinner since i had the night off. and she chose willimantic brewing company, this great restaurant/brewery in connecticut. and i was realllllllly excited when i sat down and looked at their beer list and saw they had beamish. beamish is a stout (similar to guinness) and is it made in cork city. i would walk by the brewery everytime i walked into town and having a pint of my favorite beer just made me miss ireland.

it is funny, this time around i really haven't missed ireland as much as last time. sure there are things i miss - the accents, tea time, movie nights with brenda, the english market, wondering about, rugby, lunch dates with kara and just ireland in general.... but overall this time i am so much happier and i don't really think about it as much. when i came back from study abroad i was a wreck. i was omg busy at college, my fun thing - crew was making me upset, and i was going most days from 5.30 am to 9pm from crew/high school/classes/zta and life. and i just wanted to be back in ireland, i guess it didn't help my boyfriend was also 3000 miles away?

but this time, i guess it is different because i wanted to move back to the states? i was ready for it. and i am loving it here in connecticut. i love what i am doing here, i absolutely love living with my roomie, getting to see my friends, driving, all the crazy nights here, easy phone calls and hopefully soon having something permanent with a job/life. and so having a pint of beamish the other night just made it real, that i'm back for good. that it isn't a holiday. and i'm ok with it.

and it has been a crazy few days! the first half of the week i was at work pretty much all day monday-wednesday! but the kids were fun, wednesday night was dinner with catie and thursday was my day off and while i had planned to job search and such with the computer dying i was stuck. but at night it was margarita night. and it was insane. 2 margaritas and we are done! we hand squeeze the limes and they are strong! our recipe is 4 squeezed limes, 3 shots of tequilla, 2 shots of triple sec and 1 shot of orange juice... so you can imagine! so it was fun and lets just say there was a lime pulp fight, which made a mess! but it was a great night, and the next morning wasn't the best. but oh well! we need to make them less strong for next time.

and friday was the perfect end to the weekend, after work amy and i with a few other friends went sailing! which was great, i hadn't been out in forever! and i managed to do ok, i've only been sailing a few times and the last time i went was my freshman year of college! so yay for sailing! and then amy and i just crashed and watched like 5 episdodes of greek. and so we are caught up to the tv show now. i absolutely love the show, the sorority girl in me finds it hilarious and i love bieng like noooope, when they use wrong terms or such. and i think overall they do a pretty good job of showing the positives and negatives of greek life. and i still need to watch grey's, so i'm going to find some time this weekend to do that.

oh yea, i have a summer job! i accepted a job in dc! i'll be working as a advisor for a leadership/government program for hs students. so i'm excited for that. i did the program in high school and so i'm excited to get to teach and advise students and get to have some fun in dc! the dates are slightly awkward, but i'm still excited about it, plus it gives me time to keep searching for a teaching job. so yay!

anyone up to anything fun this weekend?

Fun Weekend was today - My brother graduated from Kenyon College in Ohio today. I dunno if you have ever heard of it, but its a small liberal arts school about an hour north of Columbus. Its really old, has funny traditions and they read the degrees and honors in Latin for each graduate! It was so much fun! Jay's diploma is also in Latin! yay!!
