hootie & the blowfish

so as many of you saw on twitter (@erinkoko if we already aren't friends) i had the opportunity yesterday due to the lovely friends i met friday night at the southern ground festival to go to a small show in charleston tuesday night. it was the carolina studios pro-am jam at the nationwide pga golf tournament in charleston. one of the blowfish - mark davis has been working on a project - carolina studios which is a non-profit that helps students record their music and they wanted to do a fundraiser like darius rucker (hootie) does after the masters golf tournament each year. so this was the first year and since my 2 new friends are involved in the local music scene they got me a VIP ticket! it was pretty awesome and it was held at the golf course and just a great night of music. my friends had told me in advance of the people who would be there but the general public they only knew of a few people so i knew Darius Rucker was going to be doing a few songs and I was so excited! I absolutely love him.

So throughout the 3 hour show various people played together including Darius Rucker, various Blowfish, Pat Green, Edwin McCain, Patrick Davis, Colt Ford, Mike Mills (from R.E.M) and others. So it was a pretty awesome group of people up there! And I was lucky enough to be in the front row, so for the second time this week I was feet away from amazing music!

and while i knew darius was performing and i knew at least 1 blowfish was going to be there i was absolutely shocked that i actually got to see hootie & the blowfish perform from 3 feet away! you don't know how excited 9 year old erin was to see them! i still can't believe it! i even remembered to take a video! i tried to get most of the stage in but when you're that close it is difficult (and i'll never complain about that!) 

so that was my super exciting evening! and the super huge dork in me after all i could think of was the friends episode where monica, ross & chandler see hootie & the blowfish and meet them! so of course i had to watch that episode before bed (5 steaks and an eggplant season 2)

so keeping in touch with my new friends and i can't believe i've been so lucky to get to see 2 of my favorites so close this week!
