lady a, nyc & knees

so i wanted to write about my weekend before my surgery monday but didn't quite make it - and i started writing this tuesday but didn't get far as it is now thursday...

sister & i at lady a
last week my sister heard on the radio that lady a was coming to wilkes-barre, pa on friday and i put in for the local country station to win tickets. i never think of going to concerts there, but we looked and there were tickets so my mom said she would get us tickets for christmas! so friday afternoon my sister and i headed out to nepa for the concert! it was an interesting drive though the poconos with my sister and after a quick dinner we were there! it was at the mohegan sun arena and it was the perfect size venue for a concert. eden's edge & josh kelley opened. i love josh kelley (and he is the male singer in lady a's brother) and we had great seats. and then lady a came out! woooo! i saw them summer 2010 when they opened for tim mcgraw and it was sisters first time seeing them. and they put on a great show! they have a ton of fun with the audience and all around great atmosphere!

lady a - they had an awesome stage - a big circle and then a runway too.

rockefeller center
and on sunday afternoon i headed into the city with my sister to see it all christmasy and lovely. i absolutely love nyc at christmas and there is no place like it for the holidays. so we spent the afternoon frolicking about checking out the tree and holiday decorations, walked a little around central park, through the madness of times square and took my sister to macy's as she had never been inside. we had fun laughing and also going into the american girl doll store to reminisce about our days playing with molly & samantha. we were just in the city for a few hours due to my brokenness. and a reminder why we never go on a weekend - it was so packed sunday afternoon! so here are a few of my favs of nyc at christmas.

post op on monday
and then monday was my surgery. wooooo! so all weekend we were having an issue getting the things i needed post surgery. my insurance doesn't accept the company the doctor usually goes through and it wasn't realized until friday morning. so i was on the phone with insurance & other company trying to figure it out and monday morning i called to check on the status and it was horribly wrong. luckily my doctor's office was able to take care of it. so i was starving as my surgery was scheduled for 1:15 and i couldn't eat or drink and they were running late so it was about 2:30 when i finally went in. i just remember getting wheeled into the er and then waking up in recovery. i was a bit groggy and my knee hurt, but otherwise i was good. i was starving but didn't want to eat much because i was afraid of throwing up. but i was able to leave post op after an hour. once i was home i was good, in a bit of pain, but overall good and felt good until tuesday morning. i felt horrible tuesday afternoon  - was so nauseous and my knee was so painful, the painkillers were barely doing anything (or so it felt) and then tuesday night i threw up twice and i barely slept at all. this was the worst i have ever felt in my life. luckily wednesday morning i was feeling better and had to go to the doctors for my post op. everything is looking good and except for being nauseous i feel much better. my knee doesn't hurt as much, last night was my first physical therapy appt and it went well. it is going to be a fun recovery and she is going to push me, which is good. so just hoping the headaches/nausea goes away because i hate it. and more pt tonight and i can shower saturday! which i am sooo looking forward to!

hope everyone is having a great christmas week and getting everything done!

Great shot of the tree!!!

The day after surgery is always the WORST pain wise. I'm glad everything went well though. Hopefully this will be a super fast recovery!!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!!

i'm sorry you're not feeling well. i found that the painkillers made me more nauseous than the pain in my knee felt.

glad you were able to have some fun before you were house-bound! :)

You poor baby! This whole knee thing is just no fun. But NYC at Christmas time looks AWESOME! And now, most importantly, did you have Molly or Samantha? :)
