eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

today was my last day of summer.
tomorrow morning i'm up early and i head to school!!!!
it is the new teacher orientation tuesday, wednesday and thursday.
so i am excited to get started and know more so i can work on planning more and actually knowing more about the school and policies and such. and get to see what resources i have.

yay!

good weekend :)

saturday i met my best friend from high school for lunch. we had a great time catching up, as i last saw her when i was home at christmas. and then i went down to pennsylvania to see the boy. we had a good night, but we changed our plans as the weather was completely gross and neither of us were in the mood to go out with one of our summer coworkers. but sunday was great! i met up with becca and another good high school friend for brunch, and that was also fabulous. laughing about funny times in hs and just the fact that i am now teaching high school.

becca, me and suz

and then i've just been cleaning the room (almost done!) and doing what i can on lesson plans and notes! so the next week before school starts is going to be crazy! but i am sooo excited to finally be teaching!

YAY!!

any advice for a first year teacher?

Good luck to you! The best advice I can give you is to realize that you will make all kinds of mistakes, and that they're all worth it as long as you learn from them.

Teaching is one of the ultimate experiments...you just keep trying stuff with different kids until you find something that works.

And if you have a bad day, go to happy hour :)

Yay for teaching!!! My advice is to fight any behavior battles early, otherwise you'll be fighting them all year long. Its sooo much fun, though!

Good luck! I don't teach, but my best friend does. Never let them get under your skin - sometimes kids suck and there's nothing you can do about it. Maybe don't let them know you're new. Pretend you've been teaching for years! =)
