best of 09: book

december 4 - book.
what book - fiction or non - touched you? where were you when you read it? have you bought it and given away multiple copies?

best book i've read in 2009 is today's topic and while i've read a lot of books in 2009, there hasn't been a book this year that i've been like omg, this book is life changing. and i wish i still had the book list that had all the books i've read this year. (i hadn't backed it up since march after my computer died in september) but my choice for book of 2009 is one i read this fall.

american passage: the history of ellis island - vincent cannato

my history loving dorky self was in history heaven. ellis island is one of my favorite places in the world and just the history, dreams, opportunity, heartbreak, stories, life that is in the history of ellis island just makes me love it even more. as someone who loves immigration history and has her masters in it, this was a fabulous book.

and in the rest of life, soooo glad it is friday! it was a long week between practice and school. and i was just tired. i was pretty ontop of all my work except grading.... these projects are killing me, just the time it takes to properly grade their writing and to make the necessary corrections. i have about 25/60 of my sophomores graded, i should have graded them over thanksgiving, and then my juniors handed in their projects wednesday so i have 38 of my juniors to grade. so it is going to be a boring weekend in that sense. and then tests next week as friday is the progress reports. so lots going on. and ski is going well :) glad i'm doing it and the kids have been great and i've been getting a few good workouts in too.

also anyone else watch jersey shore? i hate to admit it, but i watched it tonight online... i needed to see how they show the "classier" side of jersey. hahaha! this article on gawker had me laughing.

let me know what you thought of the show! and also check my last post about pictures if you want to get me to take a picture of something in my life....

yay the weekend!

I heart that show! It's so awful, but like crack. You just can't stop.

My husband's younger bro knows Snooki (snickers, schnuckums) in real life, which I find hilarious. She's from the same hometown as them!
