my love of taylor swift

so i am not ashamed to admit my love of taylor swift. yes, i do realize i'm 26 with advanced degrees and absolutely love taylor swift. and well i've either written about or mentioned taylor in 32 posts. (i think i might have a problem) but there is just something about her that i absolutely love. i go way back to the summer of 2006 when i first heard "tim mcgraw" and well loved that song but it was when my friend emily heard "picture to burn" in august and sent it to me because she thought i'd like it with all the crazy cheating irish boyfriend drama that summer that i really fell in love with her. and well since then i haven't stopped singing along to her music.

so summer of 2009 reminds me of taylor swift so much. i would play her music all summer and sing along and my friend patricia and i had a magical moment where we sang along to the entire "fearless" album in the car on the way back from dropping off students at bwi with a coworker in the backseat kinda not understanding what we were doing. so i saw taylor swift live in may 2010 with my mom and brother and loved it. her concert was pretty ridiculous - i like to call it taylor swift the musical as the elaborate sets, dancers, costume changes and videos.  and so patricia and i decided to get tickets a few weeks ago to her "speak now" tour as she was playing two nights in dc. and we had a blast wednesday night!

city tailgating
we went and tailgated as you do any city concert - happy hour with girly drinks! and dc was hilarious on wednesday night sooo many people in sundresses, cowboy boots and cowboy hats. and all the matching mother/daughter tshirts too. it was quite fun to people watch. so after our successful tailgating we headed in to experience the magic that is t.swift!

and we had a great time singing along and dancing to the songs and the concert was even more redic than her "fearless" tour. with the set and costume changes. i believe there were 10 changes for 18 songs. yupppp - pretty crazy! i was a little sad thought that she did 12 songs out of the 14 on the "speak now" album and she only did 4 other songs plus a few dc themed songs. but i was sad i didn't get to hear either "tim mcgraw" or "picture to burn" but she did do "fearless" which made me happy. so overall it was a fun concert and patricia and i laughed about all our summer 2009 memories and just had a fab time rocking out to t.swift amongst all the moms and their tween daughters (actually there was a fair number of people our age there too)! i would love to just see taylor and her guitars & piano and not all the crazy that the concert is. i'm sure that would be just as fabulous rather than t.swift the musical...

patricia and i rocking out!

a little fearless action

towards the end of the night

just floating above the crowd during love story...

few other highlights from this week - so i got to experience some broadcast journalism this week. i hosted 2 tapings of a civics program where students meet former members of congress and talk about a particular topic. so i was done up all fancy in hair & makeup and was mic'd up and learned how to read a teleprompter and it was such a fun experience. i was extremely nervous but it was awesome. it was a fun thing to do on a tuesday afternoon and now i can say i've had that experience and well i now know that is not a career i would like to have.

and i'm off today and ready to spend my last weekend in dc! i'm doing all the things i haven't done yet! so i'm going to ford's theatre this afternoon and then to the maryland side of the b&o canal/great falls,  roosevelt island and then this weekend i'm doing a little civil war battlefield fun, monuments at night and anything else that sounds fun! oh and maybe some packing....

any fun weekend plans?
