thanks for all your advice about volunteering yesterday - it is something I've thought of but just wasn't sure of where to volunteer or what i really want to be doing. but i have a few ideas and i signed up for a few nights over the next few weeks to volunteer for the charleston house & gardens tour happening later this month. so at least something. and yes, i'm applying to things i never thought i would until i find a job so i'm trying to stay optimistic especially since i've only been here 2 weeks.

charles towne landing |
so today after i got fingerprinted for my teaching certification i decided to do something fun. i'm reading a 500 page book on the history of charleston. and i'm not right on the verge of the revolutionary war but charleston was originally founded not on the peninsula but along the cooper river in 1670 what would become west ashley. and the original settlement is called charles towne and i decided to go there today as it is only about 5 minutes from where i live. and i had a fun afternoon walking around the historic trail around and just loving! the gorgeous scenery along the river and the amazing lowcountry of south carolina.

and the rest of the afternoon was good after my little historic adventure. i spent the afternoon at the pool reading about historic charleston and then met amy and a few of her grad school friends for pizza and beer and now pam & julia are over at our place and we just watched "away we go" which i loved. and now we are laughing about online dating profiles and just having a fun wednesday night!
