crack mints

so amy and i just got back from the funniest superwalmart run, possibly ever. we went in for groceries and kitty litter. we left with kelly clarkson, far and away, crack mints, pomegranate gum, laptop case and assororted groceries. and we didn't forget the kitty litter! but in the process this was just full of quotes and laughter. i'm sure the checkout lady thought we were on drugs. so let us talk about two of my purchases. crack mints and far and away.

crack mints aka icebreakers iced tea mints. they are omgtastic!
i have only had the lemon ones, but seriously, they taste like a sip of sweet tea. which reminds me how much i miss sweet tea. amanda introduced me to crack mints on friday afternoon after sailing, and you need to try them! and i can't wait to try the peach tea ones!

and far and away... (i keep writing home and away, my fav aussie soap which i was in love with while in cork) the amazing early 90s movie with tom crusie and nicole kidman and the worlds WORST irish accents. it was in the $5 movie bin and i couldn't help myself. it is one of those movies that just makes me laugh. and i've actually used it teaching... there is a pretty good 10 minute clip about life for a immigrant in the US and the struggles they face and the boss system. so amy and i are currently watching it now, and i forgot how hilarious this movie is!

so my last school group was today. they were a fun group, but it is crazy how fast my time has flown by here. i'm still doing work for the next week and a half, but i'll be more normal. i'm sad to be leaving connecticut though, i've really enjoyed living and working here.

and since i've been busy here are some fun pictures from my memorial day weekend. it felt very sterotypical. there was boats, beer, parades and bbqs. sunday we went boating on the long island sound and it was fabulous. i've never really done anything like that, and we went to this cute little island - flat hammock island, which only had seagulls on it. it was a fun and relaxing day. monday was the decoration day ceremony at work (the name first given to memorial day to honor those who lost their life during the civil war) and then to the parade downtown, and a little bbq in the backyard. so it was enjoyable and i can't believe it is almost summer. crazily enough i am seriously tanner now than i was all last summer (though with living in ireland, it is believable).

Love the pictures! And those mints look tasty...I'll have to pick some up next time I'm at the store.

Ok so I've never seen Far and Away before (surprising, I know), so out of curiosity I just watched the trailer on YouTube. It's hilarious. You are absolutely right, WORST Irish accents ever. Nicole sounds like an Australian pretending to be Southern, and Tom just sounds crazy. They need to talk much faster, annunciate less, and end every sentence like it's a question or with the word like. At least that's how the Irish accent sounds in my head :)
