pittsburgh & harrisburg

so much has happened in the last two weeks... and i've also neglected my blog again. grrr hotels with no internet, but life is going well and new adventures are on the way with some more crazy times ahead.

so i was in pittsburgh last week from wed to tuesday for a conference. and it was interesting. i had a boring, boring drive across pennsylvania (ugh) but got to pittsburgh and was excited to see a few people from training, but overall the conference was just ok. my group of students was fun, but i was just blah, and not feeling it. i really hope this week will be better in dc. but after the days working the conference (thurs-sun) i explored pittsburgh and had some fun visiting friends, and now i'm in the dc area until sunday for another conference.

so pittsburgh was fun! i really enjoyed the city, sunday night a group of us from work went out for dinner and then drinks. and thanks to the wonder of facebook, i saw another girl who i've worked conferences was driving through pitt so i was able to meet up with her! and it was nice to see her and catch up on life the last few months. and then monday after being kinda lazy in the morning (sooo nice to sleep in!) i went out to explore the fabulous city of pittsburgh on monday. the first thing i did was the famous dusquesne incline. pitt is a really hilly city and they have these cable cars going up, that are still in use today. so that was fun and you know i love my skylines! then i headed out towards university of pittsburgh. i was told about the nationality rooms in the learning cathedral and it was so interesting. they have 27 classrooms decorated according to different ethnic groups and you can explore them, so i spent my afternoon looking at different artifacts and designs of the rooms. i really enjoyed it! i totally recommend it if you go to pittsburgh! after exploring a bit more of pitt, i met up with my college friend chelsea and i went to practice with her. she coaches a crew team so i had fun with her at practice before heading out to a delish italian dinner!

tuesday after saying goodbye to chelsea, i headed back across penn to harrisburg, where my hs friend becca lives. so while i waited to meet her i drove around a bit exploring the area and then went to a used book store she recommended to me, but after going to the book barn so many times in connecticut, i've been spoiled. but i enjoyed looking at books. then her and i met up and went to happy hour and then dinner. it was great to catch up and seeee her! this morning i went to the pennsylvania capital building and it was absolutely gorgeous, one of the prettiest capital buildings in the US. so that was fun! and then i hung out with becca a bit more before hitting the road again. and now i'm in the dc area for this week's conference. and i'm hoping that i'm in a better mood this weekend than i was in pitt.

so a few changes are going on. as you know i'm always moving around and i've accepted a summer job! i will be in dc from mid april - august working conferences for the same company i've been working a lot with this year, but this time i'll be in running a conference, not teaching it. so it will be an awesome and super crazy experience. i'll be working in the office from april to june and then conferencing/office in june/july and more office in august. so i'll be moving to dc and need to find somewhere to live those 4 months. i'm excited about it, but there is a lot to do in the next few weeks, including trips to birmingham & dallas for conferences.
