so lately i've been thinking about what to do after august 15th. last year when i didn't find another teaching job i told myself that i had a year deadline to find another teaching job before i would see what else i might be interested in doing. well that year deadline is quickly approaching and the prospects of a teaching job aren't looking too good. so i've thought about staying in the dc area - i'm just not feeling jersey anymore and i never in the first place wanted to be back there - but it is the safe choice.
i've been looking at jobs in charleston, but i don't know what i want to do. so i want to contact some temp agencies and go from there and also figure out what i need to do to get a teaching license in sc for the future. so just trying to figure out what i want to do with my life but i'm thinking a change into something totally different might be what i need. and plus i think i'd fit real well into the south!
so any advice on making a big life decision and moving to a brand new city just because it sounds like fun and a great opportunity?

Charleston is fabulous and you know I'm a fan of the South! :) You won't regret living there!
How exciting! Charleston is amazing--we absolutely love living here and it's very high on our list of places to retire to someday. Good luck!
I think it could be a great thing for you! Like you said you don't really have anything holding you back from moving now. You might look back and regret not taking this risk when you had the chance! It sounds so exciting!! Keep us posted!
you'd be so far from me!! but i think it could be a great experience, and i'm sure you'd pick up a full southern accent REAL quick :)
I've heard Charleston is gorgeous and this is such a great opportunity to see what it has to offer. I've heard such great things!
Hi there- I stumbled on your blog and am a new follower. I'd suggest that you think about your move to Ireland and are there any lessons you can use in your decision now? I recently moved to South Africa- my husband has a job and I don't because of visa issues. It has been hard, but I really wanted an adventure (and like you, he was having trouble finding a job in the USA after graduating). One thing I'd say is try to have a back up plan if you move, but then find that it really sucks. Like, who can you stay with if you go back (to home or DC), who can loan you money to move etc.

Good luck!
I just found your blog recently and perhaps you already have made a decision. But I have to say if you have the itch to move and to shake things up...DO IT! I moved cross-country 10 years ago and have been so happy to do so. And after years of telling myself I couldn't go back to grad school I finally decided recently to apply and I'm applying all over the country and the UK (have been dying to get back) so I say don't let fear stop ya! Be sure to do your homework and have a plan and then take the leap! Regardless of what happens you'll have an adventure and will be living life and that's what it's all about.
