airport fun.

i'm back in cork and exhausted.
the flight was uneventful and was good. newark wasn't crazy which was nice for once, i spent my time at the gate watching the eagles/minnesota game. and wanting to kill some girls. there were like 6 of them from fairfield (i think?) who were all sitting behind me and were talking soooo loud and i just wanted to go hit them over the head and be like seriously?!? they were obviously studying abroad but i didn't catch where. there were probably like about 20 students studying abroad on the flight, which later made me wish i had gotten off the flight faster. but i had fun people watching at the airport, the flights around us were to all over, so lots of interesting people and places to think about. and why are they going there? going home? on holiday? so many things to think about. one of the reasons i love airports, so many questions.

but the flight was quick, which was good. i didn't cough up a lung which was nice, as i had been the last two days. i read, knitted and watched movies, i couldn't dose off though. i was pretty comfortable as flights go, so yay!

the line at immigration was a mess. since there were sooo many study abroad students and they have to show like a million pieces of paper, luckily after all the EU people went through that guy was taking any non EU, non students. otherwise i would have waited for about 45 minutes by the time the 20 people in front of my went. it was funny the first girl went up with nothing out but her passport, and then she had to rifle through all her bags for all her letters and such. and then she tells her friends, you need your acceptance letter and such. i was like duh? maybe it just seems common sense to me that when they ask you why you're here and you say student, they want to see proof? silly americans.

had about an hour wait for the bus to cork. which wasn't bad, i managed to get some sleep, but the bus stopped every 20 minutes so not really. was back in cork around noon, and went home and collapsed into bed. i woke up, made dinner and then unpacked and organised my life. i wanted to go to tesco and a few other things, but that is going to have to wait until tomorrow after work.

so back to work and the usual. i'm glad. i like structure in my day, i like having things to do, otherwise i waste time.

I know what you mean about airports being excellent people watching. My favorite is to spy on all of the "hello" moments. The best one was at the airport in Raleigh, NC. A whole family (probably about 15 people or so) was waiting for 2 other family members to bring thier newly adopted baby home from China. When they stepped out of the walkway, everybody started cheering and crying. It made me cry!

Okay, I just got completely caught up on the last month of your life, and I so wish I had been reading this all along, haha---

-I LOVE the Duggars. I also watched that special a few days before Christmas. I am just entranced by their family (As with Jon & Kate Gosselin and their family).
-The Ryan-farting story sounds hilarious.
-Your pen-pal sounds cool - I never knew that American Girl did pen pals. :)
-I just finished "Change of Heart" by Jodi Piccoult. I also found myself in tears at a few points. What a great book...it was so interesting. Piccoult is such an amazing author... Have you read Nineteen Minutes? That one is really good. So is "The Tenth Circle". Ooh and "Salem Falls". And "My Sister's Keeper".
-Your holiday sounded amazing! I bet it was great for you to be able to catch up with everyone and everything.

Good luck with your new years resolutions!! And enjoy your last 3 months in Ireland :)
