i love italy.
venice was amazing. i just loved walking around along the little cobblestone streets, crossing the canals a million times, seeing all the amazing glass shops, the gondolas everywhere, and just getting completely lost in the maze of streets. san marco was incredible, i walked into the cathedral and was just was blown away. the upper half is all from quickly looking painted, like a fresco, like most other cathdrals... until lookng closer and it is a mosiac. the domes of this huge cathdral are all mosiac, i was completely speechless. i went up to the balcony and just stood up there staring at it all and just looking down for about 20 minutes, just amazed.
i wish i had more time in venice, there was a lot i wished i could have done, but i loved it there. just sitting along the canals, and people watching!
florence was great today. the train was fun, i loved seeing the countryside and watching it change. i went to the duomo, and wow. gorgeous, but in a completely different way. i spent the afternon walking around the city and just exploring, after popping into galleria dell' academica to see michalenglo's david. and wow. you walk into the room and see his unfinished sculptures and at the end of the corridor is david and you are just blown away. i was just so impressed. i sat and just looked at it and the detail and just how wow.
i'm really enjoying myself, eating some amazing food, drinking some fabulous wine and of course the gelato!
i'm excited for pisa tomorrow and to see an old friend, and then the uffizi and santa croce and piazza michalenglo to get a gorgeous view of the city. and then roma on sunday!
i've taken a redic amount of photos and can't wait to upload them!
oh and i also made out with an italian along ponte vecchio, one of the amazing bridges in florence tonight... it is a whole other post though, but it was fun and i was careful and a funny story!

I'm glad you're enjoying Florence. The David is quite remarkable. Prepare yourself for the Uffizi though, it takes a good deal of stamina haha.
