I remember being so excited freshman year because you hear all about birthday ball and it kinda reminded me of prom in the movies - a band, a theme, the college president giving a speech where he actually said Happy Thanksgiving, instead of Happy Birthday to George, seriously. My Worch girls and I all got ready together and then drank a little and then took prom style photos in the CAC. Sophomore year we remembered how much fun we had last year and couldn't wait for it, we had a mini party on our hall while getting ready, then I ran over to party a little with my sorority sisters and back to my hall. Had a great night with my friends. Junior year went over to my friends for our pre-party and fun seeing all my friends who graduated and laughing with everyone. Senior year was just awesome, my Garrett C girls and I threw a wine and cheese pre-party which we had everyone at, and then at the ball, we got pictures with our favorite professors and even the college president! And somehow only Lindser and I were birthday ball survivors and made it to the breakfast. And then every year the morning after looking at photos remembering the crazyness of the night... One of my favourite things about WAC.
Last year I obviously wasn't able to attend my first as an alum, but I was in Wales visiting my sister and Sunday morning I did call my crewies who all met up for brunch at Ellen's and it was great to talk to everyone. This year a lot of my friends are going, but not everyone but I still can't wait to see everyone's pictures and hear stories. Next year, I will be at Birthday Ball, my first as an alum. And I can't wait.
So tonight I'm heading over to one of my co-workers to watch the Munster match and I'm bringing a bottle of wine so we can have a Birthday toast to George Washington (even though his birthday is Sunday) and then later when I'm out with Kara and Steph.
So Happy Birthday George Washington!

Aw, the Birthday Ball sounds like a lot of fun, and that's really cool that there was something like that at your school when you were going there. Have fun celebrating Mr. Washington's birthday over in Ireland though!
OMG, finding the president was the best EVER! We had our own professor scavenger hunt, but he was icing on the cake!
and you blogged about "happy thanksgiving!" as well.
P.S. Like the pictures!
I tagged you for an award! Paybacks for tagging me :) And because I love your blog.
