amazing classes, funny nights

it has been a fabulous week in cork.

monday i worked all day like usual. it wasn't too bad, just lots of phone calls from prospective parents wanting to know about apartment complexes, then after a quick dinner, i met kara to start our training. we ran a mile and a half, then i went to climb. i actually did really well, i finally made it up the greens! yay! ok, so i didn't do just greens, but there was one spot where i kept getting stuck and i finally got past it. yay! and i also did the red overhang with some other colours. it was a successful night at the wall.

tuesday i worked until i had class at 3, then today's guest lecturer was amazing. he is visiting professor from montana, where he teaches and he also does historical research for native tribes, for court cases. so it was all about using history to help these tribes in land and water rights. it was really cool, and sounds really interesting. then kara and i ran and did dinner. and then i read all night for class, but the readings for my immigration class are amazing! and i really liked them :)

wednesday was class, and i love it. it was soo nice that we all had read the same thing, so that way we could have a class discussion and we did, a great one. talking about race, ethnicity, immigration models and patterns and then related it all to the irish migrations. i love it!
then kara and i decided to do lunch in the city centre and run a few errands, then we had some issues getting our readings to print, grrr. i still need to go back and try to print them. then after dinner, we met up to go to the gym, we biked and then i went climbing. i did a few challenging climbs, taught some new people to climb so after tom barry's (where i ran into my professor donal, and we had a good discussion about the tuesday class)there were about 6 of us headed over to the 2nd pub, and the line for the brog was crazy, so i was like we are all over 21, so lets go to crane lane. crane lane was good as usual, i really prefer it to the brog. had a great night at the crane lane, lots of fun.

so thursday, i worked in the morning and then after lunch went to the library to do some work, and met up with d. for about an hour for tea and after tea, i met up with kara to go running and do dinner. and we decided to go to costigan's, our favourite pub, as we haven't been there since before christmas.

so thursday night is the big night out in college, so the pub was packed. so we order our usual, beamish for me and bulmer's cider for kara, and find a corner to stand, where we talk, and after about 10 minutes a group of older guys come in, and joke around with us, while they put their coats on the hooks, under the ledge we are leaning on. no problem, they were funny. so kara and i are talking, when one of them who was standing next to us asks us what we are drinking, and they buy us drinks, so now a few of them are talking to us. there are 6 of them, ranging from about 40-60s, i think they were firemen? not really sure, they were nice, and while we were there they continued to buy us more pints... it was great conversation, and they were friendly and not at all sketchy,. lots of talking and laughing with these guys, a lot about traveling, sports and politics (its a good thing i like politics, because i'm always asked about the primaries) so it was a little after 1, and kara and i were drunk and tired, so we said goodbye to our new friends and left, and hopped in a taxi home. so i had 6 pints, when i usually had 2 or 3... so i was definately drunk.
so it was a hilarious night, honestly ever time on a thursday kara and i go to costigans for 2 pints, something crazy ends up happening and we end up having a fabulous night.

friday, well i was hungover. and i haven't been in so long. oh well. work was not fun, soo glad it was quiet. ohhh, dave's wife had the baby!! a little girl, name amilee (i think i got the spelling right). so that was exciting news! then came home, and kara came over to discuss thursday night, and we watched movies and friends, and it was good. i was reallly lazy, which was bad, because there was a lot i wanted to do. oh well.

today' i'm off to meet kara in a bit, to go into the city centre and then the library to get my readings printed. and then hiking tomorrow! yay!
