wet and rainy

i'm at work and i should be doing some reading because it is quiet, but i just don't feel like it.

it is a yucky rainyish tuesday, and since it is rag week campus is crazy.
like right now there is a band playing somewhere, pretty close to where i work, because i can hear them. and there is a line to get into the old bar on campus, last night you could hear the new bar from my house, and walking back from going to the well with a few of the mountaineering lads was crazy. and it was only monday night, i don't want to know what thursday night will be like.
i will be abseiling off the kain building on thursday with the mountaineering club though :)

saturday afternoon was great, kara and i walked around the city centre, i wanted to get treking poles for hiking, so we ventured to mahers and hillwalkers, and i also got a coat and a softshell fleece because they were on sale, and i've been looking at getting them. so yay! my coat is fabulous and it is a berghaus and its melon coloured, so its super bright, but i like it. and it kept me nice and dry on sunday's extremely wet hike! and instead of being productive, i watched some tv and read for fun.

sunday was slightly crazier than usual. so it was pouring when i woke up, so i get ready and even though it was the 2nd hike of the term, with the complete shit weather i didn't expect there to be that many people, last week there was about 50, and the weather wasn't as bad, so imagine my surprise at 8.30, when the first bus was full, and there was still 20 people waiting for the 2nd bus to arrive. so 70 people, most of them had never been on a hike, really shitty weather... so the first bus went ahead with 50 people and they were going to do knocklamera and bouchail, while the later bus was just going to do bouchail. i was kinda mad that i didn't get to do the longer hike, but it was nice to be in the shorter hike because our group only had 9 people, compared to 25. so that was an added plus. so the hike was good, i did another way up bouchail, so i've now done bouchail 3 times, each a different route, it is still a favourite hike, despite it being easy, because on a good day you get gorgeous views, which sadly we didn't get on sunday. at the summit, i pointed out a few of the gorgeous views to the group, it was pretty funny. my group was ger and john leading and then another irish guy who has been on a bunch of the hikes, me and then 5 americans from nc state. it was fun, and despite the weather we had a good time :) got home and crashed, my knees were killing me for some reason and i watched er. its one of those shows i used to love in high school, but once college i became too busy for tv.

monday i worked all day, by myself. dave is out because of the baby, and siobhan is sick, so it was just me downstairs and i liked it. it wasn't too busy and i put on some music and just answered the phones, and helped people when they came in. and because it was so quiet, i actually did some reading. then dinner with kara, then the gym and climbing. it was sooooo crowded, a lot of new people as well as some annoying teenagers who boulder. didn't actually do much climbing, but i did get up the greens, with less help from other colours, so i'm gonna keep working on it. i also taught some americans how to belay, i taught them to climb last week, and they were in my hike on sunday. then i did a practice abseil, for thursday and then went to the well with a few of the lads. it was a good night.

i'm done with work in a few, off to my tuesday lecture, which on the catholic church in ireland. so it should be fun. i'm cooking tonight, then going to the gym with kara and then reading about 150 pages for class tomorrow!
