26.2

So the Boston Marathon was incredible, as was my weekend!

Watching 27,000 people run 26.2 miles was just so inspiring. And sitting outside from 7.30am to about 4.30pm for a 20 second glimpse of Jeanne was totally worth it.

Amy and I drove up Saturday night and surprised Jeanne, who thought we were coming Sunday morning. So that was a fun little surprise and even though I just saw the girls last week it was great to see them again. I've really missed seeing them. So us and Jeanne's boyfriend and another friend just spent the night talking and laughing. Sunday was our lazy day as Jeanne really wasn't supposed to do much, but we did have a great poster making session for her and spent the time just relaxing and having fun.

Our plans for Monday were pretty crazy. We were getting up when Jeanne was, and heading out to get a prime cheering spot. so we were out around 6.30, walked to the T, and once we got out we were right at the corner of Boylston and Hereford and we sat up camp at 7.39. We were the first people around that area, and we laughed a lot. And we decided to take a photo every hour at :39 to celebrate another hour on the course. So here we are at 7:39! So we headed for a quick walk to the finish line - which was about 3/4 of a mile from where we were and to check out everything. And then just hung out, laughing, singing and being goofy until the wheelchairs started to go by and after that, we were standing cheering for everyone who went by. It was awesome to see the winners run by, and wow they just amaze me. To run 26.2 miles in 2 hours, 32 minutes and 16 seconds, she is running 5 minute 40ish second miles... The fastest I've ever run the mile is 7:15. They just sprint by you. It was pretty cool, unfortunately both Kara and Ryan finished third, but it was the best placing in the Boston Marathon for Americans in years, so that was pretty cool! So my friends and I were just cheering and having a great time, continueing to take our :39 photos, we had our cooler and at 10.30 when Jeanne's wave went we did a cheers for her and we were anxiously awaiting our text messages. You could sign up to get texts at the 10k, half, 30k and finish so when we got our first text we erupted into cheers and screaming! Her parents were around the corner and could hear us, so that was pretty funny! So we spent until just after 3 waiting for Jeanne to come running by and with the text messages and phone calls from one of the girls friends whose mom was keeping track of her online we had it down to a few minutes of when we should see her. So cheering her on as she ran by was just incredible. Watching her complete one of her goals and knowing how hard she has trained was totally worth standing outside for 8 hours to see her for about 20 seconds!

After that we managed to find our way around and later met up with Jeanne and her parents for dinner, which was great. And we all pretty much crashed once we got back to their house. Amy and I were up super early on Tuesday for our drive back, as we found out Monday there was a meeting at work for everyone. So yesterday was just taking care of my to-do list and being exhausted. I even took a nap, but totally passed out during Deadliest Catch. Amy and I forgot about last weeks premiere, but luckily they were showing the first episode at 8. So YAY! So I had a fabulous weekend, seeing a few of my best friends and the marathon was sooo much fun.
And it is Wednesday already?!? eeeek!

Sounds like a fun weekend! I've never been to Boston but I've heard it's really cool (I'll get to check it out in a couple of weeks actually).

That's great that you were there for your friend too- she really must have appreciated that.
