i was inspired by a post from miss pam over at relish where she wrote about her name and being asked if she was named after pamela anderson and decided to write about my name.
i love my name.
and it is totally who i am.
erin.
i mean hello erin = ireland.
and what else do i love more than ireland?
i haven't always loved my name.
i actually hated it growing up.
until i was about 13.
i just didn't like it.
for no particular reason or anything.
but i'm glad my mom chose it.
apparently i was supposed to be megan elizabeth.
my mom changed it at the last minute
and i like erin lynn so much more.
it was funny, i never knew another erin until i was 7.
and when i moved i met the first other erin and since then i've met a million.
my sophomore year english class in high school had 4 erin's in it. it was pretty crazy, with us all going by our full names, but by this point i was going by my last name anyway.
oh yea, through most of high school and college i wasn't called erin.
i've been going by my last name for a long time now, and when i was in ireland everyone called me erin, and it was weird at first after not being called it for so long.
i don't usually get any weird nicknames or anything just the usual - er or e with my name.
sophomore year of college my friends made me a shirt for one of the fraternities mardi gras parties - the front said erin go brag... fuck that (with the back) erin no bra. it was funny and made me laugh and everyone at the party got a kick out of it!
so yea, i wasn't named after anyone, my mom just liked it.
and luckily i do too!
it is crazy how much a name describes you, and i feel like erin really describes me.
so do you think your name describes you?
so things here have been mad this week, we are in day 4 of 12. we have 8 groups in 12 days. and today was really the craziest so it should all be downhill from here. but i have been getting home and just crashing. and i've been doing a lot of rowing this week too! i coxed 3 times this week! i coxed twice for her master's (adult) classes and it was great. it was their first time out in a 4 and she wanted an experienced coxswain so i was more than happy to help. plus it was fun! and then after helping to coach her novice high schoolers i was asked to cox a hs men's 4 for a scrimmage. so that was fun and it reminded me how much i missed actually being in the boat. so i enjoyed it, even if it ment i had two 5.30 mornings for coxing.
and now i'm just getting addicted to GREEK. i was lent the first and second seasons and i love it. i saw the first episode before i went abroad, and wished i could have seen more and luckily a friend had it and so now i am getting addicted to it. YAY! instead of doing a million other things.

I never liked my name growing up either... but now I think it just about fits. I guess we grow into them, like it or not :-)
ah! ok, unfortunately i can't reveal my real name (ugh being anonymous sometimes blows), however i totally feel you. i hated my name when i was young. but i was actually out with pam the other day from relish (we're bff's outside of the blogging realm) and she was all like, "WG2, your name is so you".
so i think i'm finally getting to the point where i actually like my name.
